Going to the classes is actually good fun--Richard has a great sense of humour, is knowledgable and is extremely respectful and supportive of the people his class and their varying capacities. And best of all, it’s an effective exercise class that’s not hard work! I started working out again but still I was like a cement block.
I tried lots of things, from Chiro to NSAIDs and got weak results and I was getting worst not better until one day I saw a colleague who had just been confined to laying down for the past month due to a severe back issue, walk into work with a confident stride and amazing posture. My jaw dropped, I said what happened? That's when she told me about Richard and Clinical Somatics from what she had gone through to what I was witnessing that day that was good enough testimony for me I had to try it for myself. So I went for my first visit. I had not experienced this type of physical manipulation before but I must say it was much less painful than other therapies I had been through and it almost felt like nothing was done but I would find out very quickly that a lot was going on even after the first visit.
In my case I slept for 12 hours straight. It was like a lot of tension built up over the years was letting go a bit; and after 3 visits I felt the changes in my body. For me I was was walking straighter with much more ease and less effort, regaining some mobility, back pains flair ups were occurring less often and after a couple of weeks and being back in the gym and jogging again I can say that I do these things more efficiently than I did before. I still have a ways to go to get back in shape but these sessions are helping me to enjoy my workouts with more strength and mobility. Mobility that I am now regaining that no amount of stretching could ever give me back. Mobility; that is the key that enables it all for me. Thank you."

Don't let society tell you your aches, pains, failing posture etc. are due to age, IT IS NOT SO. I'm still drawing attention that I'm not accustomed to, but this kind...maybe I'll get used to.
Thanks to the moves I've learned in Somatic Movement and to the diligent attention of my instructor Richard, I am experiencing periods of being pain free. When I begin the class, I am in so much pain I often wonder if I'll be able to continue. Then, within about 10 minutes, the pain in my back, legs and hips from osteoarthritis, bursitis and fibromyalgia continues to dissipate until I am pain free by end of class. This respite lasts well into the evening so I am able to get a good night's sleep. What's more, I now have a tool kit of positions to practice to return my body to balance again and again." - JM

"I am a 55 year old woman who began experiencing peri-menopausal symptoms about 5 years ago. As these worsened (night sweats, hot flashes, sleep interruptions, mood swings) I began a fitness program that included strength training, cardiovascular exercise and traditional yoga.
